Changing Landscapes

  • Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens 1151 Oxford Road San Marino, CA, 91108 United States (map)

From the art studio to the kitchen, discover how the Industrial Revolution reshaped both art and appetite.

Cook, taste, and travel back to the 18th and 19th centuries, when steam engines, shifting cities, and global trade transformed what people ate—and how artists saw the world.

We’ll prepare dishes from Victorian parlors to bustling street markets, while exploring paintings and prints that captured an era of rapid change. The menu may include: Victorian Sponge Cake and Fruit Compote.
