Explore shapes, colors, patterns and symmetry while designing a tunic. For inspiration visit the Mayan Textile Museum in Chiapas, Mexico.

Take an old sheet or t-shirt and cut a rectangle about 12”x18” in length.

Fold in half.

Draw a rectangle about 3”x5” on the folded edge.

Keeping the piece of fabric folded, cut along the three lines you drew. When you unfold the fabric you will see a rectangle.

Using markers in different colors draw symmetrical shapes and patterns.

Wear your tunic and make a delicious treat using ingredients native to Mexico. My favorites include Pan de Elote and Chocolate Avocado Cake.
