Women in the Collection: A Book of Mediterranean Food

The Huntington Library, Art Museum and Botanical Garden’s "Taste of Art" is back for its third installment in the virtual series, Women in the Collections. In this session, Gomez-Rejón focuses on A Book of Mediterranean Food by Elizabeth David.

Long acknowledged as the inspiration for Julia Child and Claudia Roden, in 1950 Elizabeth David introduced Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes to a bleak postwar England, when olive oil was sold in apothecaries, basics were rationed, and fresh produce was a fantasy.

The class begins with the history behind the cookbook with a cooking demonstration from its pages.
